Ellison To Ride For OMG Till The End Of The Season

James Ellison will ride alongside Luke Mossey and Billy McConnell in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship until the end of the season. Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of both OMG and Josh – the two parties were unable to build a team and bike set-up which he felt comfortable with, and so the decision has been made to continue with James on the bike until the end of the season.

Ellison, who grabbed P14 on his first outing on the OMG GSX-R1000R at Assen, will now compete for the team at the final two rounds of the season at Donington Park and Brands Hatch.

The team will continue to honour Josh Elliott’s contract until its end at the end of the 2019 season.

OMG would like to put on record our gratitude for everything Josh has done for the team and our recognition of his talents, which we are sure will bring him great success in the future.

Paul Curran – OMG Racing – Team Principal: “Very happy to announce that James will be riding with us to the end of the season, his professionalism and experience brought a great deal to the team at Assen and we really appreciate his help. Unfortunately, things with Josh haven’t worked out in the way we’d both have liked, but I have no doubt that once he finds a team that fits him, he can be challenging at the front again. We wish him the best for the future. For now, we have to look forward to the rest of the season and then to 2020 on-board the BMW S1000RR.

Alan Gardner – OMG Racing – Founder: “On behalf of the team, I’d like to thank Josh for everything that he has done for the team. He’s an incredible talent and we believe that one day he will go on to challenge for the BSB title and more, we hope he will always remain a part of the OMG Family. However, the environment we have built across our two seasons wasn’t something which Josh felt comfortable riding in – and we must now focus on the future of the team.

We’re grateful to James for joining us for the remainder of the 2019 season, offering his insights and experience to the team. Welcome to the OMG Family James!”

Further news on OMG’s 2020 British Superbike line-up will be announced in due course.

  1. How does he keep getting opportunities? He has been well off the pace for a season or two now and there are plenty of riders coming up that have so much more potential. He doesn’t bring any financial assistance to the team and unlike years previous, he is no longer seen as a nice man and positive ambassador due to recent revelations regarding his private life. Strange decision.
