OMG Racing’s Josh Elliott travels to Japan today to take part in the legendary Suzuka 8 Hours endurance race. Jossi joins the established Team R2CL Sun Chlorella Suzuki team for the competition, which will see him compete against the likes of 5-time World Superbike Champion Jonathan Rea and 2018 British Superbike Champion Leon Haslam as well as current British Superbike rivals Dan Linfoot, Tommy Bridewell and Bradley Ray.
Elliott forms part of a two-man team, partnering local rider Yoshihiro Konno who has previous experience around the 5.8km circuit. OMG Racing will be keeping fans up to date through our social media channels during the race, so you can track his progress with us.
The ‘Ballinamallard Bullet’ started his 2019 season in fine form, taking his maiden British Superbike win at Silverstone before claiming a podium in the second race. Since then, he’s had to scrap for points finishes in his maiden season as he adapts to the Superbike class.
Former National Superstock 1000 Champion Elliott is ready to get going and is looking forward to some ice-cold sushi for breakfast.
Josh Elliott: “I’m really looking forward to competing at the iconic Suzuka 8 hours event. It’ll be a totally new experience for me and one I’m excited to get started with. A big thanks to Team R2CL espace Motos Suzuki for inviting me to join their team. I’d also like to thank OMG Racing and my Team Principal, Paul Curran for giving me permission to race”
Paul Curran – OMG Racing Suzuki – Team Principal: “It’s great to see Josh being presented with a chance to ride at Suzuka, it’s a challenging circuit which is very different to anything we see on the British Superbike calendar. It gets him some more time on the bike too, which never does any harm. Obviously for us, the focus back here will be working on his bike ready for Thruxton, but I’m sure we’ll find some time to watch him in action!”
