Tough Day For Delbianco At Aragon

The third round of the Superbike world championship concluded today at Motorland Aragón in Spain with Team Althea MIE Racing taking to the track for the Tissot Superpole sprint race followed by Race 2.

In dry conditions, the 10-lap sprint race got underway at 11am local time. From eighteenth on the grid, a determined Delbianco was able to maintain a good pace from start to finish, crossing the line in fourteenth position.

Later, at 2pm local time, riders were back on track for race 2. Seventeenth on the grid, Alessandro had to make a ride through as a penalty given for an error he committed during yesterday’s race. Back on track, he struggled to make up the lost ground, and therefore decided to return to the garage towards the mid-race point.

After this third championship round, Delbianco has scored a total of three points and lies eighteenth in the general standings.

Alessandro Delbianco: “They made me take a ride through after yesterday’s accident. Back on track, I struggled to make up the lost ground and find good pace, and so preferred to stop. Everything was going well until race 1, but that incident conditioned the rest of the weekend. I’m sorry for the team and thank all the guys for their hard work. I’m sure things will all go better in Assen.”
